MARISA - HOPE - KRYSTIAN

Marisa Hope Krystian has always been a performer. It all began at the age of five when, as a singing minstrel in a production of Beauty and the Beast, she moved to the front of the stage to open the show and sang, the fateful line, “We're here to tell a story...”
Born and raised in Santa Barbara, California, Marisa participated in numerous performance-based activities over the years. She sang with the Nightingales Show Choir, acted in many Showstoppers theatre productions, danced with the Jazz Dance Academy, and captained the San Marcos High School Colorguard Team.
Marisa also cultivated an enduring love of science. While a student at La Colina Junior High School, she was selected for a four-year youth science program at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, called “Quasars to Seastars.” Responsibilities included giving guided docent tours, presenting planetarium shows, working as a graphic design intern, conducting research with museum scientists, and giving annual presentations of her work.
In the fall of 2004, Marisa entered California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California, as a biology major. During a summer session at Mira Costa College in San Diego, studying music production, a desire was sparked to investigate the field of broadcasting and journalism. A study abroad school year, spent in Florence, Italy, strengthened an interest in art, food/cuisine, international relations, and current affairs. In 2010, after a change of major, Marisa graduated from Cal Poly with a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Art History.
During her university years, Marisa served as an intern for KCOY, the local television news station in Santa Maria, which provided her hands-on newsroom experience. She also worked as an intern for American General Media, serving as an on-air radio host with the Jeff and Jeremy Morning Show on 93.3 KZOZ. When the internship ended, AGM hired Marisa to work as a production assistant and videographer for their four radio stations. As such, she was responsible for setting up live remotes and shooting videos for the company and their advertisers.
Upon graduation, Marisa moved to New York City. She was accepted as an intern for International Business Times- New York, and later hired as a Broadcast Journalist. Her work there as an anchor and reporter has involved covering stories from NYC to Las Vegas. She is comfortable in a wide variety of settings, including coverage of topics as diverse as Fashion Week, Restaurant Week, and interviews with traders on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
Marisa continues to work fulltime for IBTimes TV, while also serving as the weekly anchor for World Risk and Insurance News (WRIN.tv). Work with WRIN.tv often involves conducting interviews with insurance specialists at the NASDAQ market site in New York.
Marisa Krystian is an incredibly hard worker, who possesses unlimited curiosity, serious personal dedication, and a strong work ethic. With a wide variety of experience, which ranges from market news to science, technology, entertainment, the food world, high fashion, and in depth personal interviews, Marisa is capable of covering all the bases. The work she produces reflects her powerful writing, strong delivery, and a quirky sense of humor.
